OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTOINS

  • Do you offer group classes?
We currently offer private training only however group classes are in the works. If you would like to be added on the waitlist for this, please email send and email to sydney@thriving-k9.com.
  • What breeds of dogs do you train?
Big or small, we train them all! In all seriousness, here at TK9, we do not discriminate against any person or any dog.
  • What training methods do you use?
ThrivingK9 focuses heavily on the relationship between the owner and dog. Within that relationship, there needs to be trust, respect and safe leadership. Within our training, we use rewards (food, toys, praise, affection) the high majority of the time. With that being said, there is absolutely a time and place for a fair correction. We ensure that the client understands the ‘why’ every single time. We are advocates for the dog in every situation and we individualize our training approach with every dog we work with.
  • Is my dog too old for training?
Not at all. Even the senior dogs can benefit from training, learn a thing or two and have fun doing it!
  • How do I get the training process started?
Follow this link here and fill out the form. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response.
  • How long does the training take?
Our training programs range from 8 private sessions to unlimited. We meet for training once every week or every two weeks, whatever best fits your schedule. The overall time it takes depends on the individual situation. However keep in mind, training your dog never truly comes to an end because they never stop learning. We are always teaching, influencing and shaping our dogs behaviors, reactions and mindset.
  • Where does training take place?
Training takes place at your home, various dog friendly public spaces in Campbell River such as public trails, local parks/fields, the Tyee Spit, dog friendly stores, the Sportsplex and more. Whatever you need to teach the skills for you and your dog to flourish.
  • Do I really need a program?
TK9 heavily recommends taking part in a training program because this ensures you have coaching every step of the way. Something like behavior modification is not something that takes place over night and needs more than one session to really get a handle on it. The same can be said about a chronic leash puller or a dog who is overexcited when guests arrive.
  • Do you guarantee your training?
Success in the training program is a direct product of how much time and effort you put in. Only you can put in the work to take what is being shared and make it something personal, integrated, and useful. Keep in mind, we absolutely guarantee support for you and your dog even after the training has been completed.
