First and foremost, I'm a dog lover. Ever since I was a little girl, I was especially enthralled by wolves, German Shepherd Dogs and Siberian Huskies, it was my absolute dream to have a German Shepherd Dog though. Finally my dream came true in June, 2019 when I adopted Dax, my Shepherd, from the SPCA in Comox Valley, BC. He was emaciated with infected ears and lips. I was told he had hip dysplasia too. Along with the physical state he was in, his mental state was no better. He was fearful, nervous, timid and very soft all around. With time, love and patience (and a little puppy sister down the road...) he blossomed into this goofy, fun-loving, patient dog. I could not ask for a better companion or role model for my adolescent dog, Jasper.
I purchased Jasper from a woman in Vancouver of September, 2020 because my mom had gotten a puppy from a previous litter, I absolutely adored this little wild child. So I absolutely wanted a sibling. Unfortunately Jasper and his older sister, Piper, are not from a reputable breeder. I'll make a separate post about that and why that wasn't the wisest choice on my part along with why reputable breeders are so important.
Jasper has taught me a lot and propelled me straight into dog training because at the time, Dax would shut down if you tried to do any sort of training with him so I just let him be until he showed me he was ready, so Jasper was my first real go at training. I learned a lot from raising Piper with my mom and vowed to do better with Jasper, which I have.
Anyway, my dogs are a huge part of who I am, what I do everyday and what I want to continue to do with my life as a career. I aspire one day to be a dog trainer who specializes in canine fitness, Schutzhund, nutrition, titling dogs and more.
I'm currently in the Animal Care Aide program through North Island College to work entry-level at a veterinarian clinic because I think it's important to learn that side of the animal profession. Not to mention, I would love to assist people on how to properly care for their pets because I'm a huge advocate for responsible pet ownership.
That's truly all I can think of worth sharing right now, I plan to make separate blog posts for each of my dogs because I absolutely love talking about them.
Thank you so much for reading!
